Singapore coping well with recession..
It's interesting to note that although Singapore is in recession, the government is planning to take advantage of the next economic upturn. JTC Corporation will be intensifying its existing International Business Park’s (IBP) developments and is going ahead with its extension plans since it is expected that there will be more demand for office space.

South East Asia will not be hit as hard as many western countries during this recession so I think yes Singapore among others can take advantage in the upswing.
