Nikkei Up 1.3 percent

The benchmark Nikkei average <.N225> rose 1.3 percent and the broader Topix <.TOPX> gained 0.8 percent on Friday. The following stocks were on the move: *SUMITOMO METAL <5713.t>. Metal stocks climbed helped by recent strength in gold prices.

Gold inched down on Friday but remained near $1,050 after rising to an all-time high for a third straight day in the previous session, lifted by the dollar's weakness. Sumitomo Metal Mining, Mitsubishi Materials Corp, Dowa Holdings climbed.
